FC Halifax Town beat Dover Athletic 4-2 on a emotional Tuesday night at the Shay. Central defender and captain for the night Nathan Clarke said he was “very proud” with how the team performed given the past few days for The Shaymen.

“I’m very proud of the lads. Obviously, the high emotions before the game, the days leading up to tonight and the shock of the news coming through was very shocking. I knew Jordan quite well from my Huddersfield days, played one or two rounds of golf with him and it is a big shock. What we’ve done and what the club have done everything in their power to remember him. The manager spoke after the game in the changing room saying hopefully Jordan is looking down on that result and he’s very proud.”

To the result and performance Clarke spoke about how happy he was that the team are keeping this run of form going.

“We wanted to kick on we’ve had some fantastic results recently and we didn’t wanna come away from that. We knew it was going to be tough and they put us under a lot of pressure with their corners and long throw ins, thankfully we dealt with it quite well. The lads up-front were a constant threat for us so, delighted with the big win.”

Speaking of that constant threat Clarke went on to say how enjoyable it is as a defender watching that attacking line.

“Yes it is enjoyable. They have been fantastic for us they link up really well. We’ve got Cam King in the 10 as well, all three of them have been fantastic. As a defender you are just glad that they are on the same team as them. Also, the lads coming off the bench Jamie Allen had a fantastic performance, we are going to need everybody for this period and the lads who are coming on are certainly proving a point.”
