There are so many shining stars coming through at the moment, and young players need to really stand out to be noticed.

One impressing in particular is 17-year-old Matthew Rowson. The FC Halifax teenager is earning rave reviews and is very much one to keep an eye on.

The talented attacker is our Vanarama Young Player of the Month – and those at the Shay think itโ€™s a well-earned award.

First team manager Pete Wild said: โ€œMatt has shown good quality in the games I have watched him, holding the ball up, bringing others into play and scoring goals.

โ€œThis has been rewarded with game time with the first team. We hope this helps with his development and encourages others to make the same steps.โ€

Mike Jeffries, the clubโ€™s Youth Team coach has been equally as impressed with the Shaymen starlet.

โ€œHe has been a good character on and off the pitch,โ€ he said. โ€œHis performances have been good and are improving. Additional to this he has scored consistently over the past month, his performances also caught the eye of the first team.

โ€œIn the classroom his approach has been good and consistent which is crucial for any young player.โ€
