FC Halifax Town won 1-0 away from home against Sutton United on Tuesday night. Josh McDonald spoke to Shaymen TV after his first start from his loan spell at Whitley Bay.

“Its been a long, hard recovery but I’ve spent plenty of time in the gym. I know I needed games and obviously we were doing well and couldn’t get my way. Its done me the world of good and the gaffer has given me an opportunity and I’m fortunate for that and hopefully I’ll retain my place.”

Having lost to fellow title challengers Bromley on Saturday Josh mentioned the fact that they were in the same position on Saturday going 0-0 into the break. “The gaffer told us at half time that he doesn’t want a repeat of the weekend.”

The right winger said it was a “Great Result” especially with the fact that last weekend’s rivals few 2-2 with Stockport. Although he said this, he was critical of the first half performance.” We didn’t get on it as much as we wanted. Sometimes it’s a battle but we defended really well, and we kicked a goal.”

The Shaymen have a home tie against Torquay at the weekend where they look to make it back to back wins. MacDonald said that they “are on a good run” and “we should put in as big of a performance as today at the weekend.”
