FC Halifax Town manager Pete Wild was gutted to be out of the FA Cup. Wild was disappointed with the result and the performance as Town fell a 2-1 defeat.

Two Mark Beck goals condemned the Shaymen to defeat as Harrogate Town advanced to the first round proper.

He said: โ€œIn the first half we got completely dominated. They were stronger and better than us. We didnโ€™t win any tackles or enough headers. We got what we deserved. Second half, we came out and looked good for 15-20 minutes. Then they hit us with a soft goal. We were trying hard to get a winner, but we were second best on the day.โ€

Wild decided to change things up, with a diamond in midfield. However, Town failed to get the win against another side that looked to defend.

He said: โ€œItโ€™s something we have had in the back of our minds, to try and get better higher up the pitch. Did it work? I need to watch it back to see if it worked in the way I wanted it to.โ€

Having gone out of the cup in the 4th qualifying round, it gives the Shaymen a chance to focus elsewhere. With just the league and the FA Trophy left to compete for this season.

He said: โ€œI am disappointed we are out of the FA Cup. To put in a performance like that and to go out, is probably the worst thing that could have happened today. It does give a chance to focus on the league, hopefully we can address that next week.โ€

Town travel to Bromley next week with both sides on 32 points, and just The Shaymenโ€™s better goal difference keeping us top.

He said: โ€œWe are going to have to play a lot better than we did today. Weโ€™ll work hard all week. Iโ€™ve just had a good sit down and a chat with the lads and weโ€™re committed to putting things right. Which weโ€™ll hopefully do next week.โ€
