FC Halifax Town winger Jamie Allen was happy to get back on the pitch following his injury lay-off, though was frustrated with the 2-0 defeat to Boreham Wood on Saturday afternoon at The Shay.

Allen put in a solid performance on his first start since returning from injury. Having had a few weeks on the sidelines he was pleased to be back out on the pitch and playing football again.

“It’s nice to be back and get a start and look to push on,” he told Shaymen TV. “Yeah it was good to get 60 minutes in the legs.”

Town came up against another side who looked to defend against them, with a back five deployed for the second match in a row.

“It was a difficult game,” said Allen, “teams come and sit back against us and we struggle to break them down.

“Obviously it’s disappointing to lose but we’re going to work hard in training to come up with a way how to break teams down.”

The Shaymen take on fellow Yorkshire side Harrogate Town in the FA Cup next week and Allen is looking forward to the game.

“We’ve played them before, we know what they’re gonna do,” he said. “They’ll come here and make it tough. When you’ve been beaten you just want to get back on the pitch, but yeah, we just want to get back out there really.”
