FC Halifax Town stayed top of the Vanarama National League following a 0-0 draw with Chorley at the Shay.

We caught up with Charlie Cooper to get his thoughts on the game

Overall thoughts on the game?

“Obviously it’s frustrating, we would’ve liked to take all three points tonight, but it’s one of them games. They’ve obviously come here and just sat in, I think they had all eleven men behind the ball and anyone who plays football knows it’s hard to break down. On another night it maybe would’ve gone our way, but tonight was frustrating, we just didn’t have the last little piece of luck.”

How much does your game plan have to adapt when you come up against a team who set up so defensively?

“We just have to go about trying to break them down. That’s probably the deepest I’ve seen a team sit off, they were in their own six yard box most of the game, it’s difficult and on another day something would’ve come off for us. We’ve picked up a point up there, we haven’t dropped any, and we’ve got seven from the last three which isn’t a bad return.

We looked very threatening from your set pieces, is that something we’re likely to see more of going ahead into the season?

“Yeah, hopefully, it’s something been working on and like you said, there was a couple of good set pieces and on another night we would’ve converted one, but we keep going.”

Whats the mood in the camp like ahead of the Boreham Wood game on Saturday?

“It’s good, like I said, the last three results we’ve got two wins and a draw, so it’s positive and hopefully we can pick up another good result on Saturday.”
