FC Halifax Town’s youth team achieved their first point of the season with a hard fought 2-2 draw against Solihull Moors.ย

Played at the Old Earth Ground, home of Huddersield Amateur FC, the visitors started vibrantly and broke the deadlock early on.ย  A quick throw from inside the Halifax half caught the young Shaymen off-guard, with the ball being left to frontman Harvey Siddall, who struck from inside the box to put the Solihull in front.

Halifax hit back and responded with a powerful header from Matthew Rowson leveling the score, following a brilliant forward run from Tyler Foster.

As the game continued Halifax began to find their rhythm and went ahead courtesy of Nick Crane, who fired home from short range after receiving the ball from a goalmouth scramble.

During the closing phases of the game, captain Melis Bushaj converted from the spot to ensure the points were shared National League U19 Alliance.

After the game, youth team manager Mick Jeffries commented:

“The lads have shown a real work ethic without the ball, which was pleasing and they showed good character to take the lead after being behind.
“Of course the group are disappointed to concede the late goal and to finish with a point instead of all three. But the performance was a step in the right direction both individually and collectively.
“The hard work and preparation on the training pitch continues now as we work towards next weeks FA Youth cup tie.”
The youth team are back in action in the FA Youth Cup as they travel to face Buxton on Wednesday 02 October (2pm KO).ย  Regarding league duties, the Young Shaymen are back at home against Marine on Wednesday 09 October.
