We spoke to FC Halifax Town defender Nathan Clarke to find out his thoughts on the 1-0 loss at the Shay Stadium to Yorkshire rivals Harrogate Town. The Shaymen stay in second place after their defeat to Harrogate Town.

Clarke said ‘We are gutted, the initial thoughts on the performance were disappointing. In the second half we caused them problems, causing danger in the Harrogate area. However it was a strong performance from Harrogate though as they caused us a few problems and to get done from our own set piece was disappointing.”

Mark Beck scored an 88th minute winner for Harrogate and Clarke said, “the boys are gutted in the changing rooms after the game as we’ve worked really hard recently especially coming off a win, we felt confident and to take the sucker punch late on was gutting to be fair”.

It was wet Tuesday night and it was tough conditions against a physical Harrogate side. Clarke said, “Harrogate were good on the ball, they tried to get the ball in the box as much as possible, they’re probably in a false position at the moment. A disappointing result but we move onto the next game against Dover at the weekend”.

A tight schedule with FC Halifax Town spending most weeks playing 3 games in 7 days. Clarke feels the lads are extremely fit and it’s the same for everyone, we came off a good win and wanted to progress again, but it wasn’t to be.
