Josh Staunton spoke to Shaymen TV after FC Halifax Town’s disappointing 1-0 loss against Harrogate Town at The Shay Stadium on Tuesday night.

The Shaymen conceded in the 88th minute against their Yorkshire rivals and Josh talked us through the latter part of the game; โ€œThe second half we came out and felt like the only team that was going to win it. They have caught us on the counter from our own corner and unfortunately itโ€™s just fallen to him in the box and heโ€™s put it away.โ€

Staunton was asked if he thought his side deserved a point; โ€œI think if we had kept a clean sheet probably. They had the best chance in the first half, but we had the best in the second. So, a point would have been pretty even. Obviously, you are hoping to turn one point into the three but unfortunately we have turned the one point into nothing.โ€

Josh was full of praise for teammate Cameron King who influenced the game when coming on in the 65th minute; โ€œSecond half we got further up the pitch and controlled the ball better in central midfield. Cam linked the play very well and I thought we were going to get a goal if I was being honest.โ€

The covering centre-back was asked what it was like playing out of position next to Nathan Clarke; โ€œClarkey has got tons of experience at the back and Iโ€™m used to playing with younger players at the back. Iโ€™ve usually been the leader at the back so itโ€™s good playing next to him. We just need to turn 1-0 losses to clean sheets now.โ€

The Shaymen head to Dover now on Saturday and he was asked about his thoughts on the game; โ€œGet in on Thursday and put this to bed and not be too down about it. Hopefully go down to Dover and get the three points and get back on track.โ€
