Jake Teagle spoke with Josh MacDonald for Shaymen TV following Town’s 4-1 home victory over AFC Fylde.

Jake T: An emphatic performance today, you and the boys must be ecstatic with the result?

Josh MacDonald: Yeh obviously because we know Fylde are a good team, but we’ve shown this season that we can compete with the big teams and we showed it again today. The boys were excellent and it’s a massive result.

Jake T: On a more personal note how does it feel to have made a return to the side in front of the home fans here at The Shay?

Josh MacDonald: Yeh like you said it’s been a long time. I know I played a few minutes at Oldham but obviously to be back at home, with a big crowd and obviously, I can’t thank the fans enough for the warm welcome I got back

Jake T: There seems to be a tremendous amount of team spirit and togetherness about the squad on the field since Pete Wild came in. As a player what’s it been like working with him and how has he helped the squad?

Josh MacDonald: Yeh he’s been brilliant. He’s put across how he wants to play, which is obviously a different style to what we played last year as it’s more attacking football. Since he’s come in, it’s been excellent.

Jake T: A trip away to Barrow awaits on Monday, how do you feel as though yourself and the squad will cope with two games in such a short space of time?

Josh MacDonald:ย  The physio has given us some stuff to go home and do tomorrow, so all of us are going to get on with that to hopefully freshen our legs up for Monday. But like you say, we’ve got a good squad, so even if he needs to mix and rotate it won’t be a problem for us.

Jake T: Yet another fantastic defensive performance today, and with only 4 goals conceded so far this season, what does the experience of the likes of Nathan Clarke and Matty Brown help add to the squad?

Josh MacDonald: I’ve been here with Browny for about five years and he’s been a massive help, in my rehab he was always keeping on top of me. Last year our defensive performances were very good, but I think this year we’ve added going forward on top of that and it’s showing on the pitch as we’re defending well and we’re scoring goals.
