David Brooks played 5 games for Halifax at the start of the 2015/16 campaign, as he scored one goal against Aldershot Town. At the time, Brooks was playing for Sheffield United having transferred from Manchester City a year previously. Brooks had been at the sky blues since he was seven years old. He signed a professional contract at Sheffield United in March 2015.

Halifax finished 2014/15 in 9th place so weโ€™re looking to add to their firepower as they brought in Brooks on an initial one-month loan. He impressed in his couple of appearances as his stay was extended for a further four weeks. He was then recalled to Sheffield United to further his development. He made his debut for the first team at the start of the 16/17 campaign. Chris Wilder stated at the time โ€œI think itโ€™s difficult for a young player to impress when the players around him are not performingโ€.

Brooks made his senior international debut at the start of the 17/18 season, and it was this campaign that the youngster truly began to flourish. He scored his first goal for the club in a 2-1 victory against Leeds in the Yorkshire Derby. He became a fixture of the side and he signed a new deal at the Blades in October 2017.

In the 2018 summer transfer window, Bournemouth made a ยฃ11.5 million move and Sheffield United reluctantly accepted the offer. He signed a four-year contract at the Cherries. He made his debut in the first game of the season in a 2-0 win over Cardiff. He scored his first goal for the club in a 4-0 away victory against Watford, and he scored his first home goal for the club in the following game, as they beat Crystal Palace 2-1 at the Vitality Stadium. He finished the campaign on 7 goals and 5 assists as Bournemouth finished 13th in the league as they secured a fifth straight season in the top tier. Brooks has seen his transfer value soar in the past year and plenty of top sides will be keeping an eye on the youngsterโ€™s development.
