Chorley and Spennymoor Town meet at Victory Park for the National League North play-off final for a place in the National League, a feat neither club has managed before.

The Magpies have been drawn as the home side for the tie and after finishing second in the table, missing out on the league title by a point in the end after losing to Spennymoor in the penultimate game of the season, they will be looking to make amends with a win here to send them up.

They overcame Altrincham in the semi-final, winning 3-1 on aggregate over two legs. Top scorer Josh Wilson has netted 15 times in the league this season and will certainly be the dangerman for Chorley in their bid to win promotion.

The Moors on the other hand finished 4th in the table, five points behind their opponents. They overcame Bradford Park Avenue in the first round of the play-offs with a 1-0 win before beating Brackley 5-4 on penalties after a 0-0 draw in the semi-final.

Their manager Jason Ainsley is also head of year at a local college in South Shields and will look to lead his team further than they have been in their history. Star man Glen Taylor has been the highest scoring player in the league this season, scoring 25 times, and he will certainly be a handful for Chorley.

Spennymoor will be backed in large numbers for what will be arguably the biggest game in the club’s history, with over 700 fans making the trip to the north-west. Whatever happens, the National League will be gaining a brand-new side next season.
