FC Halifax Town will travel over to Mill Farm in the last game of the 2018/19 Vanarama National League season. Here we’ll look at the previous fixtures between The Shaymen and The Coasters.

Both teams came into this fixture looking to get back into the play-off positions after bright starts to their 2018/19 campaign. In what was an entertaining 0-0 draw Town keeper put a man of the match performance to keep out the league’s top scorer on numerous occasions. Jonny Edwards thought he had the winner towards the end as his header crashed down towards the goal line, but the linesman didn’t give it, so the game remained goalless.

Fylde got their own back on The Shaymen on their early season defeat in their push for promotion. A dominant performance by Fylde took time for them to get on the score-sheet as they hit the post a couple of times in the first half. Jonny Smith broke the deadlock straight away in the second half and James Hardy doubled their lead seven minutes later to seal the victory.

A tight affair between the two sides took till just short of the hour mark to kick into life. Striker Danny Rowe took the lead for the visitors only for Tom Denton to equalise no more than two minutes later. Town kept the momentum and pressured Fylde. That pressure finally tolled when Denton got his second with just over 10 minutes of normal time remaining. A sending off for Fylde’s Matthew Blinkhorn in the final few minutes made The Shaymen’s job easier to see through for the three points.

Fylde secured their promotion from The National League North as champions as Danny Rowe again scored the only goal of the game to stop Town’s chances of going up as champions. But we all know it didn’t matter in the end.

27/08/16 AFC Fylde 3-2 FC Halifax

This early season match between the two favourites of the division had the goals we expected. Tom Denton got The Shaymen off and running with a goal on the half hour mark. But it didn’t last long as Casper Hughes equalised two minutes later. All square starting the second half, disaster struck for Town as an own goal from Danny Hone just after the restart put The Shaymen on the back foot. Hone reprieved himself scoring an equaliser, but Town couldn’t get the winner. The winner was scored by Fylde’s Bohan Dixon 10 minutes from time.
