Wrexham: Player Spotlight

FC Halifax Town host Wrexham in the National League on Monday 22nd April looking to bring some Bank Holiday joy for the last home game of the season. To do that they will have to get past Wrexham captain and joint top scorer Shaun Pearson.

The dominant centre back has been one of the main reasons in Wrexham consolidating a place in the play offs this year, with an outside chance of automatic promotion still as possibility. His excellent defensive performances have led Wrexham to having the second-best backline in the league, leaving him in contention for a place in the National League team of the season. The number 5 has been with the Welsh side since 2017 and has grown in stature ever since his move from Grimsby Town.

Pearson began his career at Spalding United in 2006 before moving to Stamford in 2008, where he won Stamford supporters player of the season in his debut campaign. He also went onto to play for Boston United for a couple of seasons before moving onto Grimsby Town where he stayed for 6 years. He was also capped by England C in 2011. At Grimsby he was named in the team of the season for the 2013-14 campaign. He also spent a season in League Two in his last season for the club, before dropping back down the ladder to sign for the dragons
