FC Halifax Town fell to a 1-0 defeat to Maidenhead United on Saturday. Manager Jamie Fullarton spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game.

He said: โ€œWeโ€™re bitterly disappointed. I think the performance also showed a level of apathy. Individually and collectively we let ourselves down. The performance, the events of the last week, having two games and the impact of a limited squad. Having competition for places drives the squad on and gives you selection headaches. It means everybody is pushing each other to get the best out of each other. Having three games in a week, you would look to freshen it and change it. Unfortunately, the events of the week meant we were limited. We lacked that little bit of energy and we lacked the threat that we have had. So, weโ€™re disappointed.โ€

The Town squad is currently hampered with injuries. Both Michael Duckworth and Niall Maher were forced off with fresh injuries. Fullarton is disappointed with the number of injuries and is hopeful the squad can come together.

He said: โ€œThe injuries impact hugely. When you have three games in a week, in an ideal scenario you would look to freshen and change it. Add that impetus and energy they compete for places. The loss of the lads on Tuesday, and the passing of the transfer window without us being able to bring anyone else in, has massively affected things.โ€

Maidenhead managed to win after netting from the penalty spot. Fullarton felt the referee was in a good enough position to make the correct decision.

He said: โ€œIโ€™m not sure what it was. The referee was in a reasonably good position. But until I see it again, Iโ€™m not too sure.

The Shaymen travel to league leaders Leyton Orient next Saturday and will look to take three points. Fullarton is confident that despite facing an in-form Orient, Town are capable of a result.

He said: โ€œItโ€™s a great game. To play against the league leaders. I stated when we played them here, and when they scored in injury time and got a 1-1 that I felt they were the best team in the league. Since then, theyโ€™ve gone from strength to strength. Sitting at the top of the table on merit. Obviously, weโ€™re away from home, with a great atmosphere with the abundance of fans that they have. Having been a League One team, they are set up with that structure to look to bounce back. Weโ€™ll be looking forward to it and weโ€™re not deluded in the task that faces us, but itโ€™s one that weโ€™ll relish.โ€
