FC Halifax Town take on Maidenhead United in the Vanarama National League on Saturday afternoon (3pm KO) at The Shay.
The Shaymen go into the game on the back of a 0-0 draw with Ebbsfleet United on Tuesday. The draw meant that Halifax have now not conceded a goal at home since 12th January when we drew 2-2 with Solihull Moors in The FA Trophy. The Shaymen’s home defensive solidity in the National League stretches back to New Year’s Day as The Shaymen drew 1-1 with Harrogate.
The game on Saturday will be Halifax’s last in March and March has been a decent month for Jamie Fullarton’s men. Halifax have played six National League games in March and have collected 11 points from a possible 18, a run which has included two good home wins against Solihull Moors and Barnet respectively as well as an away win at Eastleigh.
The Shaymen go into the game in 13th place after Tuesday night’s point against Ebbsfleet saw them rise a place.
As for The Magpies, they travel to West Yorkshire in 18th position. Last time out, Maidenhead achieved an important victory at home to Havant, winning 2-1. Goals from Ryan Upward and Adrian Clifton helped Maidenhead to a win which saw them rise seven points above the relegation zone. The win also saw Alan Devonshire’s side get back on track after losing to Harrogate Town and Ebbsfleet United respectively in their previous two outings before their win against Havant
Maidenhead have earned 20 of their 47 points away from home, with their last away victory coming at Leyton Orient in the middle of February. However, they have lost their last three away matches against Harrogate, Ebbsfleet and AFC Fylde respectively. So, they will be coming to The Shay looking to get back to winning ways on the road.
Maidenhead’s star man so far this season has been midfielder Adrian Clifton. Clifton has managed an impressive 13 goals from midfield. He was on the scoresheet in the reverse fixture in Berkshire in September 2018 which Maidenhead won 3-0.
The sides have played five times since 2004. Maidenhead have won three of those ties while Halifax have won one with the other game being a draw.
Saturday’s game will be refereed by Declan Bourne and will be assisted by Alan Hull and Mark Reeves. Paul Tomes will be the fourth official.
