Ahead of FC Halifax Town’s National League game with Solihull Moors on Saturday afternoon, here’s a look at how both The Shaymen and The Moors have been performing in recent games…
Jamie Fullarton’s side suffered their first defeat since 9th February as they lost 2-1 to Dover last time out. Despite this, The Shaymen have collected eight points from their last five games and were unbeaten in their last six games prior to the Dover loss.
As aforementioned, Halifax lost 2-1 away to Dover in their last fixture. Dover took the lead in the game midway through the first half and doubled their lead in the 61st minute. Matty Kosylo reduced the deficit for Halifax, however couldn’t produce an equaliser to bring the six-match unbeaten run to an end.
On 12th March, Halifax drew 1-1 with Barnet at The Hive. Barnet’s Wes Fonguck gave The Bees the lead in the 24th minute, however Devante Rodney equalised for The Shaymen in the 72nd minute to make sure Halifax came away from North London with a point. Seven days before this, Halifax and Barnet faced each other at The Shay where Halifax produced a convincing 3-0 victory over Darren Currie’s side. Goals from Devante Rodney, James Ferry & Manny Duku helped Halifax to the three points.
On 2nd March, The Shaymen went away to Eastleigh and came away from Hampshire with another three points with a narrow 1-0 win, with the winning goal coming from James Ferry.
On 23rd February, Halifax played out a goalless draw with Havant & Waterlooville at The Shay, a game of few chances however the main flashpoint in the game came midway through the first half as James Berrett was sent off for Halifax. Despite having to play just under an hour of the game with a man down, Halifax held on for a point.
FC Halifax Town Form (last 5) – LDWWD
As for Solihull, they have produced three wins and lost twice over their last five games. Over their last five games, they have played four National League games and competed in The FA Trophy too.
Last time out, Solihull beat Braintree Town 2-1 at Damson Park. Braintree took a surprise lead midway through the first half through Korren Henry’s goal. However, Solihull’s Liam Daly equalised seven minutes before the half time interval. Solihull’s winning goal came 13 minutes from time as forward Adi Yussuf slotted away a penalty kick to give Tim Flowers’s side the three points.
Four days prior, Solihull beat Gateshead 1-0. Nathan Blissett’s goal in the 62nd minute was enough to separate the two sides and give Solihull their second win in four days.
On 9th March, Solihull were beaten 2-0 away to Salford City. Goals from Liam Hogan and Matt Green succumbed The Moors to their first league defeat since the end of January.
Solihull produced a strong performance at home to Maidstone on 2nd March as they beat The Stones 5-0. A Jermaine Hylton hat trick as well as strikes from Darren Carter and Adi Yussuf helped Solihull to a fantastic three points.
On 23rd February, Solihull exited The FA Trophy at the quarter final stage as they lost 2-1 to AFC Telford. Solihull fell behind in the 25th minute, but Adi Yussuf was able to level the scores in the 77th minute. There was more drama to come, as Telford’s Daniel Udoh scored an 89th winner to put his side through.
