FC Halifax Town were unable to carry on their winning form against Ebbsfleet as the game was abandoned for a waterlogged pitch. Here we’ll look at the Vanarama National League games, with important fixtures at both the top and the bottom of the table.

The lunchtime kick-off was between the title chasing Leyton Orient and Wrexham. Before kick-off it was the Welsh side that sat top of the pile. But it will be the O’s who occupy the number one spot tonight as Marvin Ekpiteta scored the only goal of the game in the 72nd minute. The O’s are now one point ahead of Wrexham with a game in hand.

Another big game in the league saw Solihull travel to Salford. Already knowing the result of the Wrexham game Moors had the potential to move into top spot but were unable to. The Ammies scored two second half goals from Liam Hogan and Matt Green to keep the pressure on the top three sides. Moors are three points behind leaders Orient but have two games in hand, Salford are now four points behind after winning three out of three.

At the other end of the table Maidstone United kept their slim hopes of survival alive as they hosted relegation rivals Havant & Waterlooville. The Stones ran out 2-0 winners thanks to first half goals from Jake Embery and Jack Powell. Maidstone are now 10 points from safety, the Hawks still sit in the last relegation spot four points from safety.

With the Hawks failing to get any points Dover had the chance to extend the gap from relegation, as they made the long journey north to Hartlepool. The Whites blew a two-goal lead and suffered injury time heartache as the home side took the three points. Alfie Pavey and Jai Reason took the away side two goals up at the break. But the Pools rallied scoring three in the last 20 minutes with Luke Molyneux scoring the third in the 91st minute. Dover remain in 20th and Hartlepool sit 12th.

Sutton fail to win again and potentially see their play-off hopes to disappear as they lost to Maidenhead, in a game that saw both teams finishing with 10 men. The magpies would have to wait until late into added time the 95th minute before Ryan Upward snatched the three points for the home side. Former Shaymen Mike Fondop-Talom saw red in the 53rd minute for a dangerously high boot. Joining Fondop-Talom in an early shower was Craig Eastmond as he kicked out at an opponent in the 92nd minute. Sutton now five points of Gateshead who occupy the last play-off spot, Maidenhead have nearly secured their National League status with that win moving them nine points clear of the drop.

Eastleigh returned to winning ways after last weekโ€™s loss to Town, as they beat Chesterfield in a five-goal thriller. The Spireites took the lead twice in the game but a never say die attitude from Eastleigh meant they scored the winner through Joey Jones seven minutes from time. The win wasn’t enough to put Eastleigh back in the play-offs but are one point off seventh. For Chesterfield they remain in 18th on 42 points.

Town’s next opponents Barnet took another defeat as they lost to Gateshead 2-1. The Bee’s will also be without top scorer for Tuesday’s game Shaq Coulthirst, as he received two yellow cards in the added time of the first half. Which proved to be the difference between the two sides, Ephron Mason-Clark’s goal took Barnet into the break with the lead. It only took Gateshead’s Greg Olley three minutes to equalise before Tom White scored the winner in the 72nd minute.

Yorkshire rivals Harrogate Town kept their resurgent good form running as they brushed aside Braintree 4-0 away from home. Jack Emmett got things going for Harrogate two minutes into the game. Mark Beck scored a brace with George Thomson getting on the score sheet as well. The result see’s Braintree remain bottom and 14 points from safety and for Harrogate they sit in sixth on 63 points.

Barrow 2-1 Aldershot

Boreham Wood 1-1 Fylde
