FC Halifax Town will welcome Barnet to the Shay this Tuesday for the next round of the Vanarama National League. The Shaymen come into the game after a brilliant result and performance down at Eastleigh, with James Ferry scoring the winner to give Town the 1-0 win. Barnet come into the fixture after brushing Barrow aside 3-1 on Saturday. Here we’ll take a look at the Barnet player who stands out from the rest.

After a outstanding FA Cup run seeing Barnet be the last remaining non-league team left in the competition one man caught the headlines. Shaquile Coulthirst the striker first appeared breaking Sheffield United hearts as he scored the decisive penalty which saw them through to the fourth round.

Coulthirst’s cup heroics didn’t stop there for The Bee’s. The former Spurs man scored two goals in three minutes in what could be the game of the 2018/19 FA Cup. Barnet came from behind twice against another Championship side Brentford to force a replay after a 3-3 draw at The Hive. Unfortunately for Barnet in the battle of The Bee’s they couldn’t keep the non-league flag flying as they lost 3–1 in the replay.

Coulthirst has also played a pivotal role in another cup run this season. The Bee’s reached the fourth round of the FA Trophy, their best performance in the competition since they were runners up in 1972. Coulthirst scored five goals in five appearances in that cup run.

As I mentioned earlier Coulthirst began his career with Spurs, although he was signed a professional deal at the Premier League club he only made one first team appearance in the Europa League before being released in 2016. During his time at Spurs Coulthirst had loan spells at Leyton Orient, Torquay United, Southend United, York City and Wigan Athletic. Coulthirst was picked up be League One side Peterborough United but failed to impress in the two seasons he had at Posh. Coulthirst joined Barnet last season but couldn’t help prevent relegation from the football league. This is the first season Coulthirst has had at this level.

If you are unable to make it to the Shay on Tuesday night, you can listen to live commentary from the ground on Shaymen Audio from 7:30pm for a 7:45pm kick off.
