FC Halifax Town take on Havant & Waterlooville on Saturday at The Shay. Ahead of the game, here’s a look at how the two sides have been getting on prior to the game…

The Shaymen managed their first National League victory since Boxing Day on 19th February as Scott Quigley scored a late winner to snatch the three points for Jamie Fullarton’s men against Maidstone United. Quigley’s goal was the first goal scored by Town since The FA Trophy tie against Solihull in early January.

As aforementioned, games involving The Shaymen had been lacking goalmouth action prior to the 1-0 win against Maidstone, on 16th January Town played out a goalless draw with Aldershot at The Shay.

On 9th January, Halifax went away to Chesterfield and suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat as Scott Boden scored a penalty midway through the second half to give The Spireites the win. The defeat was Halifax’s first away league defeat since 22nd December against Sutton.

Prior to that, The Shaymen managed two consecutive 0-0 draws in The National League at home to Salford and away to Barrow.

As for our opponents, it has been an equally mixed bag of results in the league. Last time out, Havant lost 6-2 to AFC Fylde, with Ariel Borysiuk and Alfie Rutherford grabbing the goals for Havant.

On 16th January, Havant were defeated 3-2 by Wrexham at home. Havant took the lead in this game midway through the first half with a Joe Quigley penalty, however were sucker punched by three Wrexham goals in 12 minutes in the second half. Rutherford did reduce the deficit with 21 minutes remaining, however Wrexham held on for the win.

Similarly, to The Shaymen, Havant have also played out a couple of 0-0 draws in their last five National League games as they drew away to Gateshead (9th February) and at home to Dover (26th January) whilst also dealing with 10 men in the game after Chris Robertson’s dismissal.

Havant have achieved a win in their last five games as they won 1-3 away to Boreham Wood on 19th January. Goals from Matthew Paterson, Andy Robinson and Hassan Jalloh helped Havant to three points on this occasion.
