FC Halifax Town entertain Aldershot Town on Saturday, we look back at some of the previous games between the two sides.

6th October 2018

Aldershot Town 3-0 Halifax Town

The reverse fixture earlier in the season was a disappointing day out for the Shaymen. First half goals from Portsmouth loanee Adam May and Adam McDonnell saw the Shots lead by two at the interval, before Jake Gallagher put the game out of sight early in the second half. Town came close to claiming a consolation goal through Jordan Preston, whose late strike hit the crossbar, but it was certainly a day to forget for the Shaymen.

9th December 2017

Aldershot Town 0-1 Halifax Town

Town’s visit to the Recreation Ground last season was an altogether more positive away trip for the Shaymen. Billy Heath’s side went travelled to Hampshire on a winless run of 12 games, but club legend Scott McManus pounced on a mistake by Aldershot keeper Lewis Ward to score what would be his final goal for the Shaymen, the victory certainly proving to be a rare high in a difficult couple of months for Town.

6th September 2014

Halifax Town 1-0 Aldershot Town

Halifax’s last home victory over Aldershot came early in the 2014/15 season. Town were flying high at the time, Neil Aspin having just been named Manager of the Month, and had turned The Shay into somewhat of a fortress, though the visitors proved to be tough opponents for The Shaymen, until the deadlock was broken in the 72nd by substitute Ross Dyer. That was Dyer’s only goal in his spell at The Shay, before he joined Telford United on loan for the second half of the season.

14th April 2007

Halifax Town 2-0 Aldershot Town

Another victory for Town over Aldershot came in 2007, with Chris Wilder in the dugout. Danny Forrest and Andy Campbell each scored one of the seven goals they both recorded that season, avenging a 1-0 defeat at the Recreation Ground earlier that season. Aldershot would go on to be promoted back to the Football League for the first time since their reformation the following year.

14th September 1963

Halifax Town 3-3 Aldershot FC

The first league meeting between teams representing Halifax and Aldershot came in 1963, the season after Town were relegated from Division Three into Division Four. 3,866 fans were treated to a goal-feat; two of which came from Dave Worthington, with captain Willie Carlin the other Shaymen scorer. The sides drew 0-0 in Aldershot later on in the season, and there was nothing to choose between them in the final league table, with both teams finishing comfortably in the top half with 48 points.
