FC Halifax Town return to the Shay this weekend for the Vanarama National League fixture against promotion contenders Salford City for a 3pm kick off on Saturday.

During the week the Ammies have been back in the headlines for David Beckham joining his fellow class of ’92 teammates as he bought a 10% share in Salford City. On the pitch Salford come into game against Town on the back of a 1-1 draw at home to Gateshead last weekend.

The first time these sides met this season was back in august as it finished 2-1 to Salford. A winner from Adam Rooney in the 83rd minute was enough to cancel out Matty Kosylo’s equaliser at the Peninsula Stadium, this was the first time Salford beat the Shaymen.

The Ammies are currently sitting in third position on 56 points, one point behind leaders Leyton Orient and second position Solihull Moors. A draw could be enough to send Salford back to the top of the table should Orient and Moors fail to get a point out of their matches. But a loss for Salford could see them slip down to fifth.

The Shaymen come into the game in 17th position on 34 points. A point behind Barnet the next team above them. Three points for Town would be enough to life the side to 15th position should Hartlepool United and Barnet fail to win their games.
The exit of the FA Trophy was the first defeat of 2019 for Jamie Fullarton’s side. The last defeat in the league for the Shaymen in the league was before Christmas when a 94th minute winner by Craig Eastmond gave Sutton the winner.
