FC Halifax Town host Salford City on Saturday with Jamie Fullarton’s side looking to push on from the away draw with Barrow last week.

Salford are currently sitting in third place in the Vanarama National League, one point behind league leaders Leyton Orient, despite a poor spell of form in December.

Top scorer Adam Rooney has scored 19 goals this season but hasn’t hit the back of the net since the 1stof December. The former Aberdeen striker has had a few games off the bench recently with Rory Gaffney adding goals to the Salford side as well.

Gaffney has scored 11 goals this season and has become a favourite at Peninsula Stadium since his move to the club in the summer.

The Irish striker started his career at Mervue United a team based in Galway. After a good two years there he moved to Limerick F.C a team in the League of Ireland First Division. There he scored 29 goals in 85 games over a 3-year period.

He then made the move across the channel and signed for Cambridge United. His first season there was hampered with injury, but he did go on to score twice on his first start for the club in a 3-2 away win against Yeovil in League 2.

After a successful loan spell at Bristol Rovers, he signed for the League 2 club as they were impressed with his 5 goals in 7 games. He had a successful two permanent years at the club, helping the side get promoted to League 1.

Finally, he moved to Salford in June 2018 on a three-year contract. He signed for an undisclosed fee alongside Devante Rodney who signed at the same time from Hartlepool.

In the last couple of games, Gaffney has been in fine form scoring two in his last three league games.

So, with a few handy strikers to look out for on Saturday, The Shaymen will have to be at their best to beat our visitors.

We look forward to seeing you at the MBI Shay Stadium for a 3:00 PM kick off.
