After beating Barrow with a late winner in a crazy game on the 15thof December. FC Halifax Town progressed to the 2ndround of the competition The Shaymen won in 2016.
The tie, which takes place on Saturday, will be against Solihull Moors.
The side based in the West Midlands currently sit 3rd in the National League table and have been rather impressive this season under manager Tim Flowers.
Flowers’ side has been rather impressive in front of goals this season with three strikers managing to find the back of the net 9 or more times.
Adi Yussuf may be the sides top scorer but for today’s player spotlight we’ll be looking at the clubs second top scorer this year, Jermaine Hylton.
Yussuf currently has 11 goals to his name this season, while Hylton has 9. But Hylton is the man who is really firing right now. With four goals in his last four games and two of them appearances being off the bench, the man from Birmingham boasts an impressive strike rate now.
Hylton started his footballing career in the Kidderminster academy before moving on to the Birmingham City academy. However, was released in 2009 at the age of 16.
After his release, the Solihull number 10 appeared on the Sky1 TV talent show ‘Wayne Rooney’s Street Striker’ reaching the final of the footballing competition. He also had spells at non-league clubs Continental Star and Redditch United. At Redditch Hylton scored 45 goals in 54 games.
This strike rate attracted attention and Hylton was invited to play in a development game for his former club, Birmingham City. Managed by Gary Rowett Birmingham won the game 3-2 against Manchester City, with Hylton getting his name on the scoresheet.
League 1 was Hylton’s next destination in the shape of Swindon Town. The striker spent 4 years at the club, including a loan spell at Guiseley in his last year with the Robins.
He left Swindon for Solihull Moors in July 2017 after a successful trial period at the club. At the start of his Moors career, he struggled with an injury, not making his debut until a FA Cup tie in October against Ossett Town.
The goal scorer has been described by his club as a great header of the ball and his extremely quick, even with the ball at his feet. He is certainly a handful for any defender whether he starts the game or comes off the bench to try and make an impact.
