FC Halifax Town made it four points from two games with a 1-1 draw away at Gateshead this afternoon.

The Shaymen got off to the perfect start with a goal after just 18 seconds straight from the kick-off. Jordan Preston getting his head to the ball from a cross from the right hand side to put Town ahead against his former side.

Gateshead had chances to equalise with Luke Armstrong and former Town striker Scott Boden not troubling Sam Johnson in the Town goal.

Johnson looked like he may have carried the ball under pressure from a Gateshead man over the line when he claimed a ball from the right hand side but the referee allowed play to continue.

Jordan Preston looked to make it 2-0 with a shot that was tipped onto the bar by keeper Mark Foden. From the resulting corner, James Ferry shot wide of the target.

Gateshead got their equaliser through Boden who was able to turn home a Luke Armstrong pull back from close range

Steven Rigg headed over from 8 yards out as the home side looked to win the game however the Shaymen held out to earn the point.
