FC Halifax are back in action this Boxing Day in the Vanarama National League as they make the short trip to Yorkshire rivals Harrogate Town.

The Shaymen travel to Harrogate still in 16th position on 27 points after Saturdays late 1-0 defeat at home to Sutton United. Town now find themselves four points behind Barnet and Dagenham & Redbridge.

Harrogate will welcome the Shaymen to Wetherby Road this Boxing Day in fourth position in the league. Harrogate dropped out of the top three on Saturday as they suffered a 2-1 defeat away at Eastleigh, Wrexham were able to take advantage of this as the Red Dragons picked up a point in a 0-0 draw at Aldershot to move into the top three.

Harrogate’s defeat on Saturday was their third in five in the league. A loss away to fellow title chasers Salford City (3-2) and away to play-off hopefuls Solihull Moors (2-0) have stumbled Nicky Weaver’s side as they try and hunt down Leyton Orient.
Nicky Weaver has made Wetherby Road a fortress for his Harrogate side as they have only lost once all season at home, a 3-0 drubbing by table toppers Leyton Orient the only side to come away with three points from the North Yorkshire side.

The Shaymen will go the Wetherby Road with one defeat in four across all competitions a win in the Yorkshire derby will close the gap on the side’s above us down to one if results go our way on Boxing Day.

If you are unable to make the trip to Wetherby Road for the first Yorkshire Derby you can listen to live commentary from the ground at 2:50pm for a 3pm kick off on Boxing Day.

Match OfficialsΒ

Referee: Daniel Middleton
Assistants: Adam Burgess & Paul Ince (doubt it’ll be that one)
Fourth Official: Luke Donaldson
