The 18th of December sees FC Halifax Town welcoming Boreham Wood to West Yorkshire as the sides resume Vanarama National League fixtures on Tuesday evening at the MBi Shay Stadium.

The Shaymen are heading into the clash after a well-deserved 2-1 away win against Barrow FC in the last round of the FA Trophy. Matty Brown put Halifax in the lead before his own goal in the 80th minute tied the game, Jonathan Edwards late strike in the 88th minute meant that Jamie Fullarton’s men were able to progress to the next round of the competition.

Boreham Wood travel to the MBi Shay Stadium currently sitting in 11th place with 24 points and head into the clash in a mixed run of form, seeing them pick up results such as 2 wins, 2 defeats and a draw.

This run of form started with a fixture against Ebbsfleet United on the 17th of November that ended 0-0 with both teams playing out a goalless draw at Meadow Park. This game was then followed by the first of back-to-back defeats, a 2-1 loss at the hands of AFC Fylde on the 24th of November saw The Wood leave Lancashire empty handed, two goals in two minutes from Daniel Rowe and Serhat Tasdemir was enough for Fylde to pick up the win.

Another defeat followed this time courtesy of Dover Athletic as they travelled up to Hertfordshire and left with all three points, a second half goal from Inih Effiong was enough to see The Whites claim victory.

Boreham Wood will be heading into the tie against Halifax on the back of two victories. The first of which came in their last league outing against promotion hopefuls Leyton Orient on the 8th of November, a strike from Femi Ilesanmi in the fourth minute was enough to ensure to secure all three points for The Wood.

The second victory was in their last match against National League South side Torquay United in the FA Trophy. On this occasion it was Justin Shaibu who bagged a hattrick in this fixture to make sure Boreham Wood progressed to the next round and Torquay were eliminated.

Boreham Wood have proved a difficult outfit to get the better of in their last few games, scoring few goals but also conceding a minimal amount, and man of the moment Justin Shaibu will be hoping to continue his scoring form from the last game into the match against The Shaymen.

FC Halifax Town head into the match in a mixed run of form also as their last five fixtures have seen them pick up results including 2 wins, 2 defeats and a draw.

The first of these fixtures was the replay of the FA Cup first round match against National League side Morecambe FC when a first half strike from Cameron King saw Halifax progress into the next round of the competition. The FA Cup tie was followed by a heavy league defeat at the hands of Ebbsfleet United where Town were on the end of a 4-0 defeat.

Another loss followed the game against Ebbsfleet, this time in the FA Cup again as The Shaymen welcomed League Two side Wimbledon to the MBi Shay Stadium where the home side succumbed to a 3-1 defeat. An away tie at Dagenham and Redbridge followed this result as the West Yorkshire side left Essex with a point after a 1-1 draw where a Nathan Clarke goal in the 80th minute meant the spoils where shared.

Halifax’s most recent match was against Barrow in the FA Trophy where they ran out 2-1 winners thanks to a late Jonathan Edwards goal after Matty Brown had put the ball in both nets.

Both sides will be vying for all three points in the fixture and both will need to be on their best form to claim a victory.
