FC Halifax Town fell to a 3-1 defeat in the FA Cup second round to AFC Wimbledon. Shaymen TV spoke to substitute Mekhi Mcleod to get his thoughts on the game.

He said: โ€œIt was a tough game for the boys, but we worked hard, and I feel we were the better side for most of the game. But their quality came through for league one. But overall I think we did well.โ€

Wimbledon currently sit 40 places above the Shaymen, however, Mcleod believes that Town made the gap look a lot smaller.

He said: โ€œWe showed our quality, we had chances against them and I feel like if we were a bit more clinical in the final third, I feel we would have really given them a game.โ€

Despite the disappointing result, Halifax created plenty of chances. Mcleod believes that they deserved more from the game and couldโ€™ve got a result.

He said: โ€œIโ€™d always feel that, especially playing in the game as well and all the boys giving what they got. I feel we should have got a lot more out of the game.โ€

This loss means Halifax are out of the FA Cup, however Mcleod is confident they can use this to focus more on the league.

He said: โ€œIt gives us more time but reflecting on this game now I feel that the boys are hungry. If we play like that in our league, then we will win more games than we lose. So definitely looking forward to Dagenham, theyโ€™re a good side and but I feel weโ€™ve got quality players here and we can give them a right go at their ground.โ€

Looking forward to next week and Town make the trip down south to play Dagenham and Redbridge. Mcleod believes is confident that himself and the team will be able to get the result next Satuday.
