FC Halifax Town fell to a 4-0 defeat away at Ebbsfleet United and goalkeeper Sam Johnson gave his thoughts on the game.
He said: โDisappointing really, very disappointing. We were never really at the races from minute really for me. Itโs disappointing coming all the way down here and get no points but we didnโt probably deserve any form the game. Itโs like a completely different team from Tuesday night, but we go again next week.โ
Michael Cheek opened the scoring under controversial circumstances, a blatant handball was missed by the referee and it gave Ebbsfleet a 1-0 lead. Johnson believes that everyone other than the referee saw it.
He said: โ100% fact he knocked it in with his arm. He moved his arm to the side to knock it past me. The referee must not have been able to see it because it was a definite handball for me.โ
With Town falling to their worst defeat of the season, Johnson admitted that it was down to their own performances.
He said: โI think we werenโt good enough, we were never about it today, at all. We never got on the ball, we didnโt defend brilliantly. I think the first goal did kill us, but as soon as we concede one, itโs key not to concede two and we conceded two straight away and that killed the game for us really.โ
Looking forward to next week and we face Wimbledon at home in the second round of the FA Cup. Johnson believes that it is a chance to correct the issues.
He said: โWeโre going to train harder, clearly from today weโve got quite a lot to put right. But weโve shown in the last two games before this, weโve got a good chance against Wimbledon and weโre going to give it everything.โ
