Saturday the 10th of November will see FC Halifax Town continue their FA Cup campaign as they travel to League 2 side Morecambe FC.

He is 10 facts about the side from the Lancashire coast to get you acquainted for the weekend.

  • The club was founded on the 7th of May in 1920 and in two years will be celebrating their 100th birthday
  • From 1921 to 2010 they played their home games at Christie Park before moving to the Globe Arena
  • They’re nicknamed The Shrimps due to their geographical position being on the coast, however their mascot is a cat named Christie as a nod to their old home Christie Park
  • The sides best performance in the FA Cup is reaching the third round, a feat they most recently achieved in 2002-03
  • The Shrimps biggest rivals are Accrington Stanley, until a 1-0 win in August 2015 Morecambe had failed to beat their rivals in 16 attempts since their promotion to the Football League in 2007
  • The side were promoted to the Football League for the first time in their history in 2006-07 season as they went up to League 2 as play-off winners
  • Their manager Jim Bentley has overseen the side since 2011 and is the longest serving manager in the top four tiers of English football, the former shrimps player gained the accolade after Paul Tisdale resigned from Exeter City
  • The side have found themselves stay in League 2 since they were promoted to the Football League with their best finish being 4th place in 2009-10 when they lost in the play-off semi finals
  • The first division that the side played in was the Lancashire Combination League in the 1920-21 campaign
  • The sides dismissals in the third round of the FA Cup have both came at the hands of Ipswich Town losing 3-0 and 4-0 respectively.
