FC Halifax Town travel to Warrington Town this Saturday 20th October (3pm KO) in the FA Cup 4th qualifying round.

Here are 10 facts you will be intrigued to know about our opponents Warrington Town:

  1. They were established in 1949 under the name ofย Stockton Heath Albion, adopting their current name in 1961.
  2. Warrington Town play their matches at Cantilever Park which as of November 2014 has a capacity of 2,500.
  3. Warrington ply their trade in the 7th tier of football which is Northern Premier League Division. They got promoted to the league two years ago, which is the highest theyโ€™ve reached in the English League Pyramid.
  4. In 2014-15 season Warrington reached the second round of the FA Cup as they beat League two side Exeter City 1-0 in the first round, but lost 2-0 to Gateshead in the second round
  5. 1966 World Cup winner and Liverpool Legend Roger Hunt played for Warrington in youth when they were originally called Stockton Heath.
  6. Shaun Reid the brother of Bolton and Everton Legend Peter Reid, managed Warrington Town from 2012 to 2016.
  7. Current manager Paul Carden beat off 50 applicants to get the job back in 2016, heโ€™s currently only 39 years of age.
  8. Warrington have two nicknames, preferably called The Yellows. Otherwise called The Wire.
  9. Defender James McCarten is Warringtonโ€™s longest serving player having joined the club in 2012, formerly playing for Everton as a youngster, Accrington and joining from Welsh Side Aberystwyth
  10. Warrington Town placed the highest in their history last season after finishing 3rd in the Northern Premier Division after losing out to Grantham Town in the semi-finals of the play offs
