A trip down to Hayes Lane Stadium ended with both teams taking a share of the spoils. FC Halifax Town return with a point thanks to a 2-2 draw with Bromley.

After his first appearance following a long injury lay off, Josh Staunton spoke to Shaymen TV to give his thoughts on the game and their next opponents Aldershot.

Staunton said that despite being happy to take a point, they all felt that they could have taken the three points.

“I think we’ll take a 2-2 in the end after the way we played, it wasn’t our best, but I think the three points were here for the taking for us today but obviously it was a long way to come to go home empty handed. I think in the long run we’ll definitely take the one point”

When asked about his injury he stated:

“It’s good, it has been a long time out and it has been difficult as it feels like it went on for ages but yeah it’s good to be back out there. Obviously, it was alright but pleased to be back out there and be back helping the team.”

Despite conceding a late goal Staunton said that the team had the confidence to go and get the equaliser.

“There was still plenty of time left and we knew there’d be a lot of injury time, so I think you’ve just got to keep going to the end. It’s easy for your heads to drop but I think we all dug in and gave everything we got till the end and we got our reward.”

Staunton netted the first of the two Shaymen goals from a James Berrett corner.

“What a goal it was! Berrett has just put in a nice cross and luckily I’ve just got above my man to nod it in the top corner.”

Shifting his attention across to next Saturday’s fixture, another long away trip down to Aldershot. Staunton revealed that the team and ready for it and are preparing well.

“Aldershot are a good team, they’re not on the best of form at the moment but they pass it around nicely and they’ve got good experience in their team so it’s going to be a different challenge, so we’ll prepare all week and get ready for it and hopefully take three points on Saturday.”
