Following Tuesday nightโ€™s 0-0 draw at home to AFC Fylde, FC Halifax Town looked to get back to winning ways with a long away trip down to Bromley on Saturday.

Both sides had early chances as Halifax won an early free kick that James Berrett could only curl into the arms of Huxter. Bromley also had a chance as a good cross was headed straight at Johnson in goal.

Halifax had appeals for a penalty as Sanmi Odelusi was brought down in the box, but the referee waved the appeals away and play continued.

More chances fell Town’s way as Preston saw a cross come back off the cross bar as well as corner just about being cleared by the home side.

However, about a quarter of an hour into the game andย Junior Ogedi-Uzokwe went down in the box following a challenge by Nathan Clarke and this time the referee blew for a penalty. Frankie Sutherland stepped up to take it, but Sam Johnson tipped it onto the post. Despite Johnson’s efforts, Sutherland was alert and tapped the rebound into an empty net.

Despite more Shaymen pressure, Bromley went into the break with a slender advantage. However, about an hour into the game and town were back level courtesy of a brilliant Josh Staunton header.

Following this, Bromley believed they had scored their second if it wasn’t for an excellent goal line clearance from Ryan Sellars. Straight up the other end of the pitch and now the Halifax fans believed they had scored as Odelusi had placed the ball beyond Max Huxter, but the linesman ruled it offside and the scores remained 1-1.

9 minutes from time and Bromley celebrated what they believed would be the winning goal as following a punched clearance, Bromley crossed the ball in and it was put home on the volley by George Porter.

There was some surprise when 6 minutes of added time was announced but the Shaymen kept pushing for a winning goal. With time running out, Sellars looked to cross the ball into the back post and up stepped Jordan Preston who headed home to give the travelling Shaymen a much-deserved point.

Halifax now travel to Aldershot next Saturday.
