After yesterday’s 1-0 against Gateshead, the official website caught up with midfielder Simon Lenighan after the match do discuss all things FC Halifax Town.

Simon gave immense praise to the manager Jamie Fullarton for setting the team up well to win the three points.

“I thought we implemented the game plan that the manager set very well. We just followed the game plan and when we do that, it works”.

After some good defending from The Shaymen, a counter attack goal from Jordan Preston gave the home side the lead on the stroke of halftime. It’s something that FC Halifax Town have been accustomed to so far this season. We asked Simon how much of a boost the timing of the goal gave the team.

“When you score just before halftime, that’s the best time to score because you go back in the changing room, regroup and do the same thing again”.

Despite completely dominating the first 45 minutes of action, Simon was also keen to give credit to the visitors who pushed their foot on the accelerator in the second half.

“It was quite difficult because they’re a good passing side. However, like I said, if we follow the game plan we’ll come out on top”.

Gateshead performed well but not well enough to defeat the mighty Shaymen who now go top of the Vanarama National League. Simon had this to say about the team’s current standing:

“It’s a great feeling. It just gives you more momentum to win the games coming up. We know we can win them because we’ve got the players to do it”.

We will certainly be hoping that Simon and the rest of the FC Halifax Town team will make it back to back wins this weekend. The full interview with Simon Lenighan is available right now on Shaymen TV.
