FC Halifax Town made it two wins in two games with a 2-0 win over Barrow AFC at the MBi Shay Stadium on Tuesday night to go 2nd in the Vanarama National League.
Dayle Southwell grabbed his first goal of the season with a close-range effort just before the break before captain Matty Brown doubled the lead on 88 minutes with a header from a Ben Tomlinson corner.
Chesterfield are on top of the table on alphabetical order following a 3-0 home win over Aldershot Town in front of 4390 fans for their first home game in non-league following relegation last season.
Charlie Carter put them ahead on 9 minutes and doubled his tally with a 39th minute goal. Marc-Antoine Fortune scored a penalty to finish off a convincing result for the Spireites.
The other side relegated from the Football League last season was Barnet and they were held to a 1-1 draw at the Hive. A Jack Taylor own goal put Braintree ahead, their first goal of the season following 2-0 defeat to the Shaymen on Saturday. However, Shaq Coulthirst got onto the end of a Dan Sparkes cross to give the Bees their second point this season.
Dan Johnson’s deflected shot-put Bromley ahead in their home match against Dover Athletic, Jamie Allen equalised for the Whites on 35 minutes. Kevin Lokko then turned the game around with a 72nd minute goal but a last-minute penalty from Frankie Sutherland meant both sides had to settle for a point. That was both side’s first point of the season following defeats at the weekend.
Maidstone United got their first win of the season with a 2-1 away win at Dagenham & Redbridge. A Blair Turgott double made it three goals in two games for The Stones and his goals were enough for all three points despite Elliott Romain’s late goal for the Daggers.
Gateshead made it two wins from two with a 2-1 home win over Salford City. Adam Rooney put Salford ahead but Two goals from Luke Armstrong to add to his goal on the opening weekend gave the Heed the victory.
Hartlepool and Harrogate Town both drew at the weekend and they shared the points at Victoria Park. All the goals came in the second half as Niko Muir put Hartlepool ahead on 53 minutes, Dominic Knowles got on the end of a Josh Falkingham cross to equalise, Luke Cassidy put the home side ahead again with 20 minutes left but Callum Howe’s equalised in injury time.
James Brophy put Leyton Orient ahead in the first half at Brisbane Road, but they were denied all the three points thanks to Corey Whitely’s injury time equaliser for Ebbsfleet United
Solihull have also won both their games this season, this time with a 1-0 win over Maidenhead United. Former Barrow frontman Adi Yussuf grabbing the only goal of the game, his second of the season. However, Moors finished the game with 10 men as Jamie Reckord was sent off for two yellow cards.
Finally, Wrexham and AFC Fylde followed up on their wins at the weekend with a 0-0 draw at the Racecourse Ground
Havant & Waterlooville are in the bottom four following their first two games but earned their first point of the season with a 0-0 draw against last season’s beaten play-off hopefuls Boreham Wood.
Sutton United started their home campaign with a 1-0 win over Eastleigh courtesy of Jamie Collins 31st minute penalty after Tom Bolarinwa had been brought down in the penalty box.
