FC Halifax Town faced their fifth summer fixture yesterday against Scott McManus’ new side Coalville Town at the Mander Cruickshank Solicitors Stadium down in Leicestershire. The game finished 3-1 to the Shaymen and we caught up with summer signing Jordan Preston on his thoughts on today’s result.

“It’s another win and another good run out for everyone and I think we can see what we are doing in training is starting to get fine tuned into our performances, itโ€™s been a tough preseason and I think you can see the benefits now as we are scoring a lot of late goals and looking pretty fit.”

Although the home side took the lead through Tolani Omotola scoring the opener, but it wasn’t long before Town equalised thanks to Trialist 19’s looped header finding its way into the back of the net to level the tie after 18 minutes played.

Preston came on as a substitute for Josh Staunton at the break and he explained how conditions were tough.

“It was a dry pitch but a decent game, they were a decent team as well and a good test for us a lot different to some of the preseason games we have played lately like Port Vale and Bolton as we were able to get on the ball more, but I felt we did well in spells against Port Vale and Bolton.”

“I felt good again, I think gradually I’m getting more of the ball and feeling sharp, feeling a bit quicker and more game fit so feel like I’m getting there now. Itโ€™s a young group and we are doing well as a team now and I think we are all just wanting to go the same way, we are all young and ambitious and we all want to get ourselves and the club as high as we can.”

With the season just two weeks away and excitement building we asked Jordan who he is most looking forward too.

“Itโ€™s always nice to play against your old club (Gateshead) so really looking forward to play them, but also the local games against the likes of Harrogate and Salford, the games that our gonna bring in the big crowds and also Chesterfield.”

So, with preseason beginning to wrap up we play our final summer fixture next Saturday against Boston United at the MBi Shay Stadium, 3pm Kick off.
