2018/19 Season Fixture Preview

FC Halifax Town will travel to Braintree Town for the first game of the season for Jamie Fullartonโ€™s first full season in charge of the club.

The Vanarama National league is nearly upon us and a long away trip to the Avanti Stadium in Essex will be the opening game for The Shaymen on the 4th of August.

The newly-promoted side finished sixth in the Vanarama National League South but scraped through by the playoffs and will be looking to make a mark on the National League by upsetting Halifax on the season opener.

Three days later The MBI Shay Stadium will host its first league game of the season as Barrow return to West Yorkshire as they narrowly avoided relegation last season, avoiding the drop by just one point on the last day of the season.

Another home game follows on the second weekend of the season as Maidstone travel up on Saturday the 11th of August.

The Kent-based side are one of the most southern teams in the league and will also be looking to improve on last seasonโ€™s outing as they finished 19th last time round to keep their place in the league for this season.

An exciting trip to newly promoted Salford City follows. The trip to Moor Lane will be one of the closest league away day for Shaymen fans this season. The newly appointed Graham Alexander will look to make his mark on the Salford team and the Vanarama National league by impressing at this level for the first time in the clubโ€™s history.

On the 18th of August Dagenham and Redbridge return to the MBI Shay Stadium. The former Football League side finished 5 points off the playoffs last season in 11th place. Peter Taylor will bring his side up from London looking to improve on mid-table last season with a strong start in the league.

On August, the 27th the first Bank Holiday game of the season will be a home tie against Gateshead.

Newly relegated Chesterfield will make the trip from Derbyshire to Yorkshire for their closest game of the season on Saturday the 13th of October. After their two consecutive relegations to take them out of the Football League, Martin Allen will be looking to stop the drop for the club and challenge in the league this year.

Another relegated side, Barnet, will be a strong outfit for the 2018/19 season. Another side based in London will travel up on a Tuesday night in November to face Jamie Fullartonโ€™s side on the 27th.

The only other Yorkshire side in the Vanarama National League this season is newly promoted Harrogate Town after finishing second in the National League North in the 2017/18 season. The coming season will be the first attempt at this level for the Yorkshire side as they look to avoid the drop back down. The Shaymen will play their new Yorkshire rivals twice in 6 days as they face off on Boxing Day, and then on New-Years day as well.

The other games around Christmas will be a home game against promotion chasers Sutton United on the 22nd of December. On the 29th of December, The Shaymen make the journey up north to Gateshead to make up the bust Christmas period.

The second fixture against Salford City will be on the 26th of January and two weeks later the return trip to Chesterfield on the 9th of February.

The last three games of the season will be a trip to Hartlepool on Friday the 19th of April, three days later the last home game of the season as Wrexham visit the MBI Shay Stadium on Monday and the 22nd of April. The last game of the season is a trip up to AFC Fylde on the 27th of April.
