We’re now over a week into the 2018 FIFA World Cup and yesterday we sawย Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Moroccoย crash out of the tournament. Are we in for more of the same?

Match 1: Denmark v Australia

Demark head into this match knowing that a win could see them qualify for the Round of 16, something they haven’t done since 2002 where they were defeated by England.

The Danes are the favourites with the bookies but they doย have some things to worry about. Midfielder, William Kvist, was stretchered off during their opener and is hopeful of returning at some point in the tournament but he will play no part today.

Australia impressed many people in their opening game against France with the way they played and passed the ball. The Socceroos were extremely unlucky to not come away with at least a point, whichย means that they may start quickly as they know that a defeat todayย will likelyย send them home.

Coverage of this match will start at 12:30pm on ITV.

Match 2: France v Peru

France were heavily criticised for the way they played against Australia in their opening game of this year’s World Cup. Theyย lacked urgencyย and seemed content with letting their opponents have possession.

If France are to lift the FIFA World cup for the first time in twenty years, they need their star players to make a big impact today. A win would see them qualify for the knockout stages of the tournament, so there is a lot to play for.

Much like Australia, Peru were impressive in their first match but they couldn’t get a result. It was 36 years since Peru last featured in a World Cup and they tried to make the most of it against Denmark. Their speed and attacking play was something to be admired.

If both sides play the way they did in their respective opening matches, don’t be surprised to see an upset today.

Kickoff is at 4pm and it will be live on ITV.

Match 3: Argentina v Croatia

If Lionel Messi and Argentina don’t get at least a draw today and results don’t go their way tomorrow, we could see the second Ballon d’Or nominee eliminated from the FIFA World Cup.

In their opening match, Iceland put on a defensive masterclass against Argentina, Messi was marked out of the game and none of his teammates stepped up to fill his boots. However, Sergio Aguero scored his first ever World Cup goal so his confidence should be high and Croatia will certainly have to keep an eye on him.

Croatia got off to a winning start against a less than impressive Nigeria side and they currently sit top of group D. A win today will see them qualify for the Round of 16, something they haven’t done since 1998.

Coverage of this game will begin at 6:30pm on BBC One.
