Mike Fondop-Talom has revealed it โ€˜would be lovelyโ€™ if he was to come back to FC Halifax Town next season, with his loan coming to an end following the 0-0 draw away at Maidstone.

Fondop-Talom joined the Shaymen on loan from Guiseley shortly after Jamie Fullarton took over at the club.

He has been Fullartonโ€™s first choice forward ever since, with multiple goals during his time including some pivotal winners in the bid to stay in the National League.

โ€˜I know they (the fans) are expecting me and it would be lovely if something has been offered but I always say to everyone that God is in control and I leave my destiny to him.โ€™

โ€˜So, I will see, I will just go where the future sends me.โ€™

It was a frustrating end to the season for the Shaymen, with a lacklustre 0-0 draw at the Gallagher Stadium which saw both sides struggle to take their chances.

However, knowing football would be hard to come by over the summer, Fondop-Talom knew it was important to put in a huge performance.

โ€˜I gave my best, because obviously it was the last 90 minutes. Iโ€™m not going to touch the ball now for a least a couple of weeks now so coming into this game I knew that.โ€™

โ€˜So that was the reason why I had to give my 100%.โ€™

It was what could be considered a nothing game for both sides, with neither team having much to play for having both secured safety in the National League.

However, it allowed the team to play with fear and without pressure, something that was welcomed by the on-loan forward.

โ€˜When you play with pressure itโ€™s a lot different because when you touch the ball it feels like youโ€™ve got something holding you on your shoulders but yeah playing without pressure is a lot better.โ€™

The travelling Shaymen fans would have loved to see the lads end the season on a win, however a point away from home after another long journey is good enough to take back to the Shay.

Although it was a rather disappointing performance, it was made up for with a frantic and exciting last ten minutes with Fondop-Talom having a huge chance to take all three points.

Kosylo went down in the box under a heavy challenge and the referee had no choice but to point to the spot.

Fondop-Talom stepped up but unfortunately saw his low drive saved well by the Maidstone keeper and kept the scores level.

โ€˜I was aiming for three points and I think I had the opportunity to score the winner, but you know it happens, it happens to be fair Iโ€™m a bit upset but itโ€™s gone and thereโ€™s nothing I can do now.โ€™

โ€˜A point is good, but we were aiming to come and get three points here.โ€™

Unsure whether he will be back at the Shay next season, the forward was ever complimentary of the Shaymen faithful for the support they have given him in his brief time at the club.

โ€˜Theyโ€™ve been really unbelievable. Not only on the pitch but even off the pitch, on social media theyโ€™ve been texting me and encouraging me.

โ€˜On the pitch theyโ€™re the 12th man which we needed sometimes.โ€™

For more post-match reaction from Scott McManus on his final game for the club and manager Jamie Fullarton on his views on the end of the season, head on over to Shaymen TV.
