Ahead of FC Halifax Town’s final game of the season against Maidstone United this weekend, we look at one of their stand-out players this season.

When Maidstone United lost their top scorer Joe Pigott to AFC Wimbledon in January, they must have wondered who would replace his goals. Blair Turgott has seemingly stepped up to the plate in recent games, scoring in their last 2 games, resulting in 2 important wins.

Turgott started his career with West Ham, coming up through the youth system. He went on the search for first team football, with loan spells at Bradford City, Colchester, Rotherham United and Dagenham & Redbridge over the space of 3 years, making a handful of appearances for each.

After he was released from his contract at West Ham, the youngster signed a short-term deal at Coventry City, scoring once in 4 appearances. He was later released from Coventry, with Leyton Orient offering him a one-year deal.

He made over 30 appearances for Orient, but was again released, with Bromley signing him. Another strong season saw him play first-team football with his Hometown club.

Turgott was then signed the next season by Stevenage, but after a single appearance was loaned to Boreham Wood, who he then signed with the next season on a permanent move.

This season he was loaned to Maidstone United, making his deal permanent later that year. He has been made a regular name in the Maidstone starting 11 this season, with important goals lately for his side.

Now 24 years old, the winger will look to continue his goal-scoring run against Town when the teams face each other.
