FC Halifax Town entertain 2nd placed Tranmere Rovers this weekend in our final home game of the season.

James Smith did a quick interview with captain Matty Brown looking ahead to Saturday and next season.

Survival’s been secured now, has planning started to go into place for next season?

Yeah, I’m sure they are, obviously it’s up to the manager what he plans for next season. I’m sure he will have put into place what he wants for next year and he’ll have identified who he wants to keep and who he doesn’t, and possible new arrivals as well. I think if the manager has his full stamp on things it could be an exciting year for the club

Despite that, we’ll still be looking to finish as high as possible this season, with two games left.

Yeah, definitely. Obviously, Saturday’s a massive game, Tranmere are going for the league still, and it’s our last home game in front of our fans so we want to finish as strongly as possible, and then we’ve got Maidstone away last game of the season and I don’t see any reason why we can’t take points out of them two games.

We’ve been on a good run of form despite last weekend’s loss at Torquay, what type of improvements do you want to see?

It’s a difficult one really, because if you look at the schedule we has last week, we had four games in seven days which wasn’t ideal. I’m not saying it’s an excuse but naturally people are going to be tired, and that might have had a little bit to do with the result with the long journey. We’ve got a full week of training now; the lads will be fresh and rejuvenated for these games and hopefully our quality shines through.

Finally, Matty, you talked about the scheduling. From having a lot of games in quick succession, to then going a week without one, how hard is it to make that adjustment if at all?

I’d say it’s easier to be honest, obviously if you’re on a good run, games coming thick and fast are good, four games in seven days is ridiculous by any standards, we’re not making any excuses or moaning about it, but it’s not ideal for anybody however having a week to prepare for this game will be a bonus.
