FC Halifax Town face a stern test as they take on Tranmere Rovers at the MBi Shay for Town’s last home game of the season.

The visitors pose a difficult challenge for Jamie Fullarton’s side, with Rovers occupying the dizzy heights of the top five and will be hoping to carry any positive momentum into a successful play-off run.

Here are ten things you may not know about Saturday’s visitors:

  7. After such incredulous successes, Tranmere were relegated to the National League in 2014, after a 94-year stay in the Football League.
  8. Despite recording a mammoth 95 points in the league last season, they were pipped to the top spot by Lincoln City who had 99 points, and Rovers ultimately fell at the last hurdle, losing the playoff-final to Forest green Rovers.
  9. Current first-team manager Micky Mellon played for the club on three separate occasions, amassing a total of over 160 appearances.
