Tom Denton has told Shaymen TV Reporter, Charlie Russell that Tuesday’s clash with Hartlepool United is a “monster game.”

The FC Halifax Town striker gave his views following a 2-1 defeat against Ebbsfleet United yesterday.

Denton summed the game up plain and simply by saying: “In the first half, we should have been two, maybe three nil up, we went one nil up.

“Then in the second half, we’ve conceded two quick goals.”

There were a number of penalty appeals in the first half, with the referee awarding the second, which was converted by Matty Kosylo. Looking at this the striker said: “The second one was definitely a penalty, I’m not sure about the first one, it could have been but definitely the second one was.”

Following a 1-0 lead, the Shaymen conceded two goals in the second half from debutant, Corey Whitely and former Man City man, Luke Coulson.

“We conceded two quick goals and when it’s not going right for you, it just happens like that sometimes,” said Denton.

“We’ve got to pick ourselves up and we have a monster game on Tuesday night.

“We’ve got to win, everyone near the bottom has won this weekend so we’re getting sucked right into it. We’ve got to win Tuesday.

“The manager has just said we have got to win Tuesday, no matter how it comes about.”

In the closing moments, substitute Ben Tomlinson clashed with Ebbsfleet goalkeeper, Nathan Ashmore, leading to both players receiving yellow cards. Denton spoke about the coming together saying: “It was just a couple of players in the emotion of the game, both teams wanted to get something out of it and it was something out of nothing really.”
