With FC Halifax Town hosting Hartlepool United this Tuesday, media team member, Charlie Russell takes a look at one player from the visiting side.

The player in question is 24-year-old, Louis Laing who has played for seven clubs throughout his career.

Starting with Sunderland in 2009, the defender failed to make the first team on a regular basis only making one league appearance. However, he represented England at every level until Under 19.

A 2012 loan spell to Wycombe Wanderers saw Laing gain first team experience but he left the Stadium of Light in 2014, joining Championship club, Nottingham Forest.

Again, being restricted in first team opportunities the 6ft 2 defender was sent out on loan to neighboring side, Notts County as well as Scottish club, Motherwell.

Making his mark in Scottish football, Laing joined Motherwell permanently in 2015. During his two-year spell with the club, Laing returned to England, again with Notts County on loan for the 2016/17 season.

Laing had a brief spell with Inverness Caledonian Thistle before moving to National League side, Hartlepool United in July 2017.
