Ebbsfleet United were established in 1946, following the merging of Gravesend United and Northfleet United. The club was originally named Gravesend & Northfleet FC until 2007, when they switched to their current identity.

Stonebridge Road has been the home of the club since the beginning. First built in 1905, Northfleet United played at the ground before the merger. Currently known as the Kuflink Stadium for sponsorship purposes, the ground has been housing on average 1,618 spectators per game this season.

The clubโ€™s notable former players include former England and current Crystal Palace manager, Roy Hodgson, who played in 59 games for the Fleet between 1969-1971. Former Hull City midfielder and Soccer AM favourite Jimmy Bullard also spent a year at Stonebridge Road during the 1998-99 season.

Ebbsfleetโ€™s manager is Daryl McMahon, who has been in dugout since 2015. The club is the 34-year oldโ€™s first taste of managerial experience following a playing career which saw him represent The Fleet, Boreham Wood, Dover Athletic amongst others.

The club hit the headlines back in November when social media noticed a faux-pas on The Fleetsโ€™ part, they hadnโ€™t given defender Yado Mambo the number 5 shirt, about the famous Lou Bega banger. They later rectified this by auctioning a one-off shirt for charity.

Until 2013, Ebbsfleet were owned by MyFootballClub, an online venture which allowed paying members to vote on how to run the club. This saw the community become the first online group to own a sports club.

This dream ended soon though, which a group of Kuwaiti investors, KEH Sports Ltd, headed up by Dr Abdulla Al-Humaidi, take the reins. The new owners promised to improve the stadium and training facilities at the club.

Ebbsfleetโ€™s current first team possesses a handful of internationals, including Marvin McCoy and Myles Weston, who both represent Antigua and Barbuda, Maltaโ€™s Sam Magri, Bradly Bubb who has turned out for Grenada, as well as Fabian Brandy who has picked up 2 caps for Saint Kitts and Nevis.

Recent silverware wins for the club include the 2007/08 FA Trophy, for which they beat Torquay United 1-0 at Wembley, and, mostly recently, the Kent Senior Cup in 2013/14.

The club is based in the Kent town of Northfleet. Local industries within the area include cement production, metal and the production of Andrex toilet tissue at the Kimberly-Clark owned paper mill.
