Just the two games to talk about in the National League this evening as midweek games returned as teams looked to play out fixtures which were postponed earlier this month.

The Shaymen welcomed the challenge of Leyton Orient in a huge clash near the relegation zone and it was the away side who took home all three points. The O’s took the lead 18 minutes in as their top scorer Macauley Bonne found himself clear through on goal and managed to roll the ball past Sam Johnson. However, Town responded well and were rewarded for their efforts as Tom Denton latched onto a low Josh MacDonald cross to fire home into the roof of the net. However, it was Orient who were to get the winner as Josh Koroma cut inside from the left and fired low past Johnson at his near post to take all the points. This result sees Orient leapfrog the Shaymen into 17th.

The only other fixture on show tonight was the clash between Gateshead and Wrexham which finished goalless at the Gateshead International Stadium. A very respectable point for the home side who currently sit in 14th position in the National League and a missed opportunity for Wrexham to jump into second ahead of Aldershot. Shaun Pearson saw his effort come off the bar for the away side and had Scott Boden’s effort cleared off the line but had to settle for a point in this one.

The National League returns once again on Saturday, with FC Halifax Town taking on Dagenham and Redbridge at the MBi Shay Stadium.
