After last weekโ€™s cup exit against Maidenhead, Leyton Orient are this weekโ€™s visitors to the MBI Shay Stadium. Here are ten things you need to know about Saturdays opponents.

  1. They were relegated to the Vanarama National League in the 2016/17 season. This ended the clubs run in the football league which lasted 116 years.
  2. The Oโ€™s were the subject of a channel four documentary when former chairmen, Barry Hearnโ€™s takeover of the club was followed. The show was titled: Orient: Club for a Fiver, after the previous owner, Tony Wood, put the club on sale for ยฃ5.
  3. Former winger Fred Le may played for the club in the 1932,33 seasons, although he only played ten games. The fact that he stood at exactly 5-foot-tall means he is believed to be the shortest player ever to play in a football league match.
  4. In 1966 Orient opted to drop Leyton from its name but the suffix was reinstated in the early Eighties.
  5. Andrew and Julian Lloyd-Webber are both supporters of the club, along with Ex-EastEnder Ricky Groves.
  6. Leyton orient have premier League experience in their ranks. Defender George Elokobi and midfielder Jobi McAnuff had spells in the topflight with Wolves and Reading respectively. McAnuff has also been capped 9 times by Jamaica.
  7. The club have spent just the one season in the top flight of English football back in the 1962/63 season. They finished bottom in the old First Division, relegated along with Manchester City.
  8. Striker Macauley Bonne is the joint second top scorer in the Vanarama national league this season. With 13 goals, he scores a goal every 186 minutes.
  9. The Oโ€™s were founded in 1881 as Eagle Cricket Club.
  10. In 1929, 38,219 fans crammed in to watch the Division 2 tie against Tottenham Hotspur. The highest attendance ever for a Leyton Orient home match.
