FC Halifax Town face Maidenhead United for the second time since the turn of the New Year. Maidenhead have struggled for form and results recently so we look at their captain and leader, Alan Massey, for their player spotlight.

Massey is a commanding central defender, standing at 6-foot-tall he always challenges his man in the air.

Massey did start his career at the current league 2 side Wycombe Wanders. He was at the club for two years and had loan spells at lower league Hendon Town and national League South side Wealdstone FC. He later joined Wealdstone on a permanent deal. He signed with the club as a 19-year-old in 2008. He stayed at the Middlesex club for another 4 years before moving to Braintree.

He followed manager Alan Devonshire from Braintree Town to The Magpies back in May 2015. Since arriving at York Road he has been a massive player for the club. He was ever present in last seasonโ€™s historical title win in the national league South leading the clubs solid defence.

The centre back isnโ€™t well known for his goal scoring abilities; however, football fans may have seen his most famous goal. The skipper gave his side the lead in their FA Cup 1st Round replay live on BT Sport last season.

Having played 29 games already this season, which is two more than Josh Wilde, The Shaymenโ€™s top appearance maker, the centre half is still yet to score this season. Wilde and the rest of the defence will have to be solid in the air to stop the opposing captain from bagging his first this season, and taking his side to the next round of the cup.
