FC Halifax Town under 19s manager Mark Trueman says his side are confident of victory ahead of their visit to undefeated league leaders Guiseley this afternoon (1.30pm kick-off).

Halifaxโ€™s youngsters currently sit eight points behind Guiseley in the U19s National Alliance League having won all nine of their league matches and boasting a +46-goal difference.

However, the Shaymen have also enjoyed a strong recent run of form, having not suffered defeat since October and unbeaten in their last nine matches in all competitions.

Trueman is confident that his squad has what it takes to become the first side to take points off Guiseley this season.

โ€œWeโ€™ve got that feeling in the camp that the lads are confident going into each game,โ€ Trueman said. โ€œRecently, it doesnโ€™t matter what challenge theyโ€™re coming up against because theyโ€™ve been coming up on top.โ€

โ€œWeโ€™re confident but not going into the game thinking that itโ€™s going to be easy. Guiseley are a good team, theyโ€™re usually well organised and theyโ€™ll make it hard for us to play. Itโ€™s going to be a good test tomorrow.โ€

โ€œThe lads have had a little break over Christmas but theyโ€™ve been back about two weeks now so weโ€™re prepared and focused and looking forward to the game really.โ€

Guiseley ae the only side to have beaten Halifax in the league this season, winning 1-0 at Rothwell in Townโ€™s first match of the season.

Trueman feels the squad has developed since that defeat and have come out stronger for the experience.

โ€œTheyโ€™ve learned a lot since that defeat,โ€ continued Trueman. โ€œIโ€™ve been saying for all of this season to the media team that we look forward to playing good teams.โ€

โ€œWe played Guiseley in our first game of the season, and I think they played two or three games before we played our first game, so they were already kind of up to speed before us in that game.โ€

โ€œUnfortunately, we got a player sent off, which made it tough for us. But, I thought we were always still in the game with ten men. Weโ€™re going to give Guiseley respect but weโ€™re confident that we can get a result.โ€

โ€œWeโ€™re better prepared now than we were in the first game of the season.โ€

This afternoon’s game will be played at Nostell Miners Welfare FC (WF4 1LB) and we will have full match updates on Twitter and Snapchat (FCHTOnline)
