While FC Halifax Town turn their attention to the cup competition as they take on Macclesfield in the FA Trophy on Tuesday, the National League resumes for some teams with eight teams in action in the league. Here is a preview to those games.
Firstly, there is a clash between two teams fighting for those all-important playoff places as 8th place Boreham Wood make the trip to 6th placed Dagenham and Redbridge. Both teams have identical records in their last 3, winning one each and drawing the other two so this shapes up to be a very interesting fixture between these two sides. A win for Boreham Wood could see them jump as high as 5th.
At the other end of the table, there’s a big fixture between two teams trying to avoid the drop this season as Guiseley and Gateshead go toe-to-toe at Nethermoor Park. Guiseley are 9 points clear of safety however they have two games in hand over some of the teams around them, so a win here is a must if they want to start climbing up the table. Gateshead on the other hand will be looking to turn around their poor run of form, having not picked up three points in their last six attempts.
Another team struggling at the bottom of the table is Chester and they have a difficult task ahead of them on Tuesday as they face mid table AFC Fylde. Dave Challinor’s side will not be an easy task for Chester, having picked up three wins in a row including an impressive 5-2 victory against Tranmere Rovers. Fortunes may be picking up for Chester however, having avoided defeat in their last two games and picked up four points in the process, a win here would be a good start to getting out of the relegation scrap.
The final game in the National League on Tuesday features two mid table sides in the form of Maidstone and Ebbsfleet. Maidstone will be looking to reverse their winless run as they go into their 10th game looking for three points. Ebbsfleet have been on an inconsistent patch of form recently, with three wins two draws and three losses in their last nine games. A win for Maidstone could see them jump in front on Ebbsfleet and could find themselves as high as 10th and could be late contenders for a play-off place if they can hit a good run of form.
